MOTHER EARTH ESSENTIALS
Handmade Locally
Chateau Lacombe is a proud client of Mother Earth Essentials, providing our guests with handmade and high-end unique hotel amenities such as handcrafted shampoos, conditioners, body washes, lotions, and soaps.
Mother Earth Essentials uses the Indigenous plants Sweetgrass, Tobacco, Sage and Cedar in their products, promoting a holistic and balanced way of living and healing. So not only do these products smell amazing, but they also promote and support a First Nations owned-and-operated small business. You can be sure that your complimentary soap bars, body washes and conditioners at Chateau Lacombe are both naturally derived and locally sourced.
About Mother Earth Essentials
Mother Earth Essentials was founded to share the nature-inspired teachings rooted in the sacred plants of the Medicine Wheel. They have interpreted their offering based on the teachings of the company's founder, Carrie Belcourt-Armstrong, and elder Francis Whiskeyjack (Cree, Saddlelake FN).
Carrie Armstrong comes from a long line of Cree Medicine Women. She started to form the idea for a bath & beauty line business during her first teaching job at Amiskwaciy Academy, where she used traditional plants to connect the students to their history. Prior to teaching, she worked in the beauty and retail industry, and through these combined experiences, lead her to launch her collection of natural products through Mother Earth Essentials.
Carrie has always been passionate about sharing her Indigenous culture and the spiritual properties that have been handed down to her. Her family's natural recipes and plant knowledge has been important for her to share, as her mother and aunt were taken to residential school and the generational teachings were threatened. She has worked with her grandmother, elders, and medicine people to create and grow the foundations for Mother Earth products.
